Ke$ha Coming to Lebanon… Tomorrow!

What do you know but it looks like the current hotshot pop singer is coming to Lebanon tomorrow night for a concert at Pier 7.

Haven’t heard of this before? I don’t blame you. The news just broke out on twitter and it was relayed to me via BeirutBoy, a Lebanese blogger.

Granted, I don’t even know where Pier 7 is and I’m not really interested in attending the concert. But come on, radio has been bombarding us with the 30 Seconds To Mars concert, which should take place this evening, for over two months now. Same thing with the Shakira concert that took place in May. So why the ridiculously weak marketing? It’s not like 30 Seconds to Mars are more “in” than Ke$ha in today’s music scene.

I mean, everyone complains that she’s being overplayed and yet no one bothers to tell people that she’s coming to sing those overplayed songs that everyone listens to? What’s this stupidity?

So if you’re interested in attending, the concert should start at 10 pm and be done by 12:00 am. A two hour set is enough, in my opinion.

The description of the event is as follows:

If you “wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy”, grab your glasses be at Pier 7’s doors and be ready to hit the City. Saturday 16th of July, American aspiring pop singer and songwriter Ke$ha will perform live at Pier 7. An overwhelming accomplishment in less than one year with debut album and songs hitting number one in the US, Canada and Greece along with over two million albums sold worldwide. Presenting her edgy collection of hard-hitting electro-pop songs and her bold lyrics and attitude, Ke$ha will “Blow” the stage live at Pier 7 on the 16th of July.

You can contact Pier 7 on this cell phone number: 70-697 777.

Scorpions Concert In Byblos (Jbeil), Lebanon – Part 2

The original dates for the two Scorpions concerts in Lebanon took place over the past 2 days, on July 6th and 7th, whilst a third one was added on a prior date on July 4th, the overview of which you can see here.

While I wasn’t lucky enough to be able to attend either of the three concerts, I’ve had relatives attend both concerts.

My cousin attended the July 6th one. He’s a die hard Scorpions fan and even taught himself how to play the electric guitar to their songs. His SMS ringtone is their lead guitarist Matthias Jabs playing a riff and his usual ringtone is for their hit: Wind of Change.

He reported that it was the wildest and most astonishing concert of his life. While he might be biased, that was the sentiment that most people attending the concert came out with. Drumsticks thrown by drummer James Kottak were picked up by the lucky few who were close enough to catch them, as well as lots of guitar picks thrown by Rudolf Schenker.

Their setlist was comprised of the same songs as their July 4th concert, although they replaced their song Dynamite by their hit “You and I” to the joy of many.

Meanwhile, my brother attended the July 7th concert and while he is a big fan, I can’t say he matches up with July 6th cousin. He said they had a blast at the concert and while some of the songs were unfamiliar to him (he’s more familiar with their classics than with their newer hits), he was still able to have a good time. He said the ambiance was electric with the heavy music that was playing and he said that even twenty years later, Scorpions are better able to entertain a crowd than many common bands today.

The setlist for July 7th was similar to the July 4th concert except “Dynamite” was replaced by “Always Somewhere.”

Here are pictures taken by both my brother and cousin of their concerts. I will update this post with video when they’re done uploading. More pictures will be posted as well.

Shakira’s Concert in Lebanon

Shakira’s concert in her native country, Lebanon, ended a while ago and while I didn’t go, tweeps are reporting that it was massive – both literally and figuratively.

Described by some as the biggest concert in Lebanese history, Shakira posted this picture of the crowds at the concert, which she dedicated to her father, William Mubarak, from the Lebanese city of Zahle:

While some complained that her set was short, they also said that they danced a lot and had a blast. I’m sure it was a great concert. Until she comes back again (and seeing how lucrative this has been, I’m sure Lebanon will be made a constant fixture on her international tour), did you go the concert? how was it?
